M+A Elope

Muskoka Summer Elopement

Megan and Andrew met by way of mutual friends in the summer of 2004. 14 years later we got to meet them, and help make their long relationship even more “official” with rings, paperwork and lovely wedding photos!

Traveling from Alberta to Ontario for a friends wedding in Toronto, they decided this would be a perfect opportunity to tie the knot and extend their stay a little longer. A two day detour to Muskoka was planned and they are now happily husband and wife for life.

They were looking for something relaxed, informal, with personal touches. It was more about the union, and being together as a family (one guest attended ... their 10-year-old daughter - so sweet), than anything else.

Their wedding day started in an awesome refurbished church turned bed & breakfast in Bracebridge, where Megan was treated to some hair and makeup primping. The three of them chatted and just hung out together for the morning, until it was time to get dressed and ready for the ceremony. Nothing rushed, everything calm.

Knowing that ‘a perfect day’ to them meant including a nice walk or hike, we suggested meeting at a local trail and venturing into the forest to find the best “I do” location. Flip flops on, and heels in hand, we set off. We were greeted by a family of grazing deer right at the trail head - I’d like to say that we helped plan that, but it was just mother nature showing its finest self! We carried on and after a quick team decision, settled on a lovely area with exposed rock (thank you Precambrian Shield), water, and towering pine trees as “THE” spot.

The ceremony was short and sweet - thoughtful and personal; sealed with a kiss.

I must say, there is something pretty special about having children witness mom and dad (or whatever the union) share an oath and promise forever to each other.

Team Awesome….
