Elopement vs. Micro Wedding vs. POP-UP Wedding
There is a lot of terminology being tossed around right now in the wedding world. With the idea that a smaller wedding might be the way of the future (for the time being anyways), we thought we would lay it down and explain the difference between Elopements, Micro Weddings and POP-UP Weddings.
The Coles Notes version / quick facts are:
An ELOPEMENT is just the couple.
A MICRO WEDDING is the couple + a handful of guests and a larger budget.
A POP-UP WEDDING is the couple + a small guest list with little-to-no planning required.
To give you an idea of estimated costs, check out the below. This is, of course, not a definitive budget, but instead an average on what our couples typically spend at the end of the day. Every client and wedding we help create is different and unique from the next, so don’t hold us to this!

Elopements
It’s all about you and your partner, and the intimate moment you become a married couple.
The definition of Elope is: “To run off secretly” | “to run away with a lover”. Secret or not, it’s just the two of you, adding a chapter to your love story, in the most intimate way possible.
Most Elopements take place Monday-Friday in order to be as inconspicuous as possible.
Primp & Pop is based in the heart of cottage country - Muskoka - and is the. perfect. destination. for an elopement. We love planning here, however; we are dedicated to find YOUR perfect place to say “I Do”. Maybe you see yourselves on the rocky shores of Tofino, or the sand dunes of the Sahara? Perhaps you’re beach babes vibing with Costa Rica, or the mossy cliffs of Iceland are more your jam? The “I do” spot is really only limited by your imagination.
Take note: you can say bye-bye to drab city hall nuptials and Vegas strip chapels!!

Micro Weddings (aka. Mini Weddings)
Micro weddings are an abbreviated celebration of a ‘traditional wedding’, but more involved than an elopement. It’s a modern twist that involves all the classic trimmings of a conventional wedding, but on a mini scale. The day is usually shorter, and the guest list smaller.
Micro weddings can take place anywhere - it is the perfect solution for a backyard or cottage celebration, or we can recommend a dreamy venue that fits your loves, the season, budget, and overall aesthetic you crave.
With a Micro Wedding couples can expect a beautifully decorated venue, flowers, ceremony music, food and drink, photography from arrival to departure, and other carefully curated details.
Micro Weddings are perfect for discerning couples who are looking to keep some of the formalities of a traditional wedding day but prefer a modest guest list.
Micro weddings can take place any day of the week, but most couples choose something Monday-Thursday, or on weekends during off-peak seasons when rates and minimums are lower.

POP-UP Weddings
A POP-UP Wedding doesn’t have the same definition across the board. Planning companies have taken the term and used their own interpretation to develop their POP-UP packages.
To some, POP-UP Weddings are essentially Micro Weddings, but happen within a shorter planning timeframe.
For us, A POP-UP Wedding is a styled, designed and planned day where a number of couples say their vows in short, intimate ceremonies, at different times. It’s a prearranged, all-inclusive ceremony package. Our team creates a beautiful ceremony space, handles the logistics, and pulls together the team of vendors, so that all the couple has to do is book a time and show up. Each POP-UP Wedding day is uniquely different, using inspiration from the season, time of year, venue, and industry trends.
POP-UP Weddings are perfect for couples who are looking for a more affordable way to get married, without compromising on the quality and overall aesthetic of their day. They are stylish, budget friendly and super low stress, with a compromise of less customization.

POP-UP Weddings can be booked last minute, based on availability.
POP-UP Weddings are planned for you, so you don’t personally have to skip a beat.
